Cortland School District Budget Hearing

The Cortland Enlarged City School District is holding a Budget Hearing on Tuesday, May 6 at 6 pm at the Kaufman Center, 1 Valley View Drive, Cortland.
This is your opportunity to learn more about the budget and ask questions.
The proposed budget is $61,621,249 and would require a tax levy override with a 4.99% level increase. Since the tax levy exceeds the 2.39% tax levy limit, the budget needs 60% approval to pass rather than a simple majority. That doesn’t necessarily mean your property taxes are going up by 4.99%. We’ll have a tax levy vs. tax rate post after the meeting as well as additional information on the propositions.
There are propositions on the ballot regarding school bus purchases, capital improvement projects, and the Cortland Free Library budget. Voting will take place Tuesday, May 20 from 11 am - 8 pm.
